after my grandmother died, my mother, aunt, adrian and i headed down to the beach house for some time of rest and reflection. it was so nice to spend the time together and remember my beautiful grandma billie. my mom and her sister had such a great time with adrian. it's amazing what only a couple of days can do...

beach babe
the gulf coast was incredible this past week. spending time with my family was so sweet. i am such a beach lover. i love the sun and water and wind. it's so fresh and clear and glittery. it was adrian's first time to see the beach/ocean. he was mesmerized. through the eyes of a babe!

petals from the past - new shoot
i went to petals from the past with my mother and adrian the other day. we found wonderful herbs, kinds i never knew existed. it is such a breathtaking place. magical, even. i took some new photos of the blueberry bushes with my extra nice and brand spanking new camera. the blackberries are coming out too. we picked some and ate them right there. a little tart, but golfball sized, i tell you! i cannot wait for the black and blueberry festival coming on june 13! i think i am going to gather some friends for some good old fashioned picking!

this is a few weeks ago at the magic city art connection. so fun to splash in the water. Patrick taught the kids a project by artist mel chin called the fundred dollar bill project. it was a hot day, but lots of people came out to support the arts. maybe one day i can show my work there, rather than chase after my toddler. definitely cannot do both these days.

little swimmer
as summertime is coming to a close, we are savoring each day in our pool. Adrian loves swimming and splashing with his papa. (mama is always close to snap a few shots.) he is growing up so much these days. i swear he got 3 teeth this week and learned to crawl! what a big boy! we are so proud. does it get any better than this? happy 8 months old to you, baby!

walk in the park
we took a really long walk today. maybe wasn't such a good idea, because of the heat. but we had a good time strolling to the park from our house. there is a shortcut called bulldog bridge! a secret walking trail we just discovered. we took the pigdog, and she had to get in the river once we got to the park. adrian was flushed, even though he had a full sippy cup. we got ice cream before we headed back - and ice water! what a nice long day.

something's fishy
baby deer legs are back tonight. pig probably fished them out of the woods. concerned about the maggot infestation and her partaking. she goes to the vet in the a.m. anyways. she is 13 and living on borrowed time as it is.
adrian spent most of the day in the pool. he loves the water very much. i would love it if he learned to swim at such a young age. i think he is part fish. his excitement is contagious.

baby legs
when i came home tonight i found baby deer legs in the front yard. only the legs... pigdog was close by. i think she may have had a chew or two. it reminded me of the first night we were in this house as proud new homeowners and she killed a rabbit out in the back by the pool. i got a really upset with her and made patrick throw it away so she would quit gnawing away at a carcass in our nice new suburban dwelling. only it was monday night and trash did not pick up till the following monday morning. it rotted in our garbage can for a week in the july heat. our first garbage pick up and they think we are strange animal killers, i thought. this time, i had patrick don rubber gloves and trow it out into the back field. it was already full of maggots.
adrian has recently started biting. 6 1/2 months old and already sinning against his mama. the biggest smile you've ever seen on a kid crosses his face when I yelp in a pained reaction. i know he is cutting teeth, but jeez. maybe i should just try a bite on his baby legs. it seems to work for pigdog.
