tagged!

so, i've been tagged.  i am supposed to go to my 4th folder of photos and my 4th photo in that folder to show off.  of course, it is of my darling adrian at his 6 month pictures i took in the front yard.  i have been meaning to take 1 year photos and he has carried a mark on his face of one sort or another.  so, i have not photographed him in this way - black and white portrait style yet.  this was the perfect weekend, tho.  as the weather turned unusually warm and sunny.  a perfect 70 degrees.  we had a yard sale and a picnic this weekend.  adrian started to eat a stick on the ground and i tried to pull the stick away, but only succeeded in scratching his face with my fingernail.  so, alas, it will be another week before i can get those sweet milestone shots.

i am tagging new people to carry on the game of tag...

wild bird

he has been walking around the house with the bird whistle in his mouth like it is a pipe dangling out one corner of his lips.  what a crazy look for him.  but he is happy and learning how to walk.  and all is right with the world.

blue phrog art gallery grand opening

so, here we are at the grand opening of the new art gallery in town.  so excited to be a part of it all.  my friends, phil and suzanne have really created a beautiful spot.  wish them well, of course.  and lots of sales... of mine and my husbands work!  this shows patrick sold a piece opening night.  how fortunate!  my big beautiful camera is on display too.

slinky dog

fascination with slinkydog is at all new heights.  i think it does not work the way it is supposed to anymore, but that has not stopped adrian.  he hearts slinkydog.

winter burnout

so, it's supposed to snow tomorrow.  and i am cold.  looks like winter will be here for a while.  at least we aren't getting any ice storms, like in Kentucky.  those poor folks.  so, we will hunker down into our warm beds and dream of midnight swims and early morning walks in the summertime.

adrian is getting better and better everyday at pushing the stroller.  he will be walking any minute now.  he is also getting so tall - 31 inches!  and he is 23 lbs. and 10 oz.  he has slimmed down much already in the past few months.  to think he was 20 lbs at 6 months!  wow!  he sure is growing up.

party down (finally)

so we finally had the party.  it was all that i hoped it would be.  although, next time, i will keep it just to the family, i think.  it was great to have all my friends and all my family there together, but it was a lot of people!  more than what my tiny cottage can comfortably hold.  34 people, i think.  it may have been more.  but it was great.  and adrian had a great time.  he is such a social beast.  and the cake, well, he ate it up, of course.  none in the hair, though.  better to clean him up afterward.  and all the wonderful gifts that everyone brought.  the slinky dog... awesome, i cannot believe they still make those.  and the mega blocks, always a winner.  the rockin' piano was also a hit.  but the brain mold for future jello projects is the winner.  jess marie, you did it again.  you always give the best presents.  thanks to all.  you are such sweet friends.  how did i get blessed with so many?  the orange gerber daisies definitely tied things together in the color dept.  also, the mobile i made at work, using the computerized mat cutter was awesome.  the animals were super cute.  and publix, with the help of my husband, did a fab job with the cake.  i was still a little sore with them for not wanting to use my imagery from the adorable ikea napkins i bought last pilgrimage.  but i think they did all right, and patrick finished it off with the extra icing they packed for me (for free).  if you ask, they will do it.  the water bird whistles were a huge success.  although i have a few left over.  maybe craigslist? again, happy birthday to adrian vega.  hope your day was memorable and all your dreams came true....

lashed out

my husband wondered if adrian was going to grow out of his eyelashes... umm, no.  they are here to stay, forever and ever.

birthday bash postponed

so, i took adrian to the doctor for his 1 year check-up and he had an ear infection and a bad cold.  i had to make that call yesterday and i decided to postpone his birthday for another week.  it sucks, but i want all to enjoy, including my son.

happy birthday, adrian vega

well, we made it!  he is officially one year old today.  it is amazing to think how fast that went by.  exactly one year ago today, he was emerging from me - well, they used the vacuum - it was not as romantic.  but he was finally here at 4:13 am and i was full of adrenaline somehow after a 27 hour labor!  i couldn't stop looking at him and touching him and was in awe that he was here and that he was ours.  it was what i like to call scary/beautiful.  i cried much those days.  i imagined him getting in his car for the first time by himself at 16 and driving away from me, i imagined him getting married and looking back to blow me a kiss and i just wept.  not even a day old and making his mother cry.  how could he.  his pure existence made me squirm.  i couldn't take it back.  all the blood, sweat, and tears were now a part of my story.  and a new story.  a new life had begun and i was in a super conscious state.

over the months of breast feeding and pumping and sleepless nights that still come even now, i have come to enjoy my little project.  i have killed cactus, so i was afraid.  but i have done quite well.  i am still breast feeding and have successfully reached my goal, but will continue to follow that path for as long as it will take me.  it has been difficult.  it has been ugly.  it has been wonderful.  it has been sweet.  and as i lay him down this evening and whispered my loving mama thoughts in his tiny ear, i like to think that he knows deep down.  my love for him is endless.  as long as i have breath, he will be etched in my thoughts.  happy birthday, adrian vega...

winter days

i wish i could enjoy the bath as much as my son, adrian.  he lives for it.  in the winter, sometimes that is the only solace.
