cabbage patch

these babies are too cute.  daphne and i took our babes to the botanical gardens today.  they were so sweet in their matching crab outfits.  they remind me of something we used to wear when we were kids.  smocking and embroidery, yeah!  and crabs!  we must take them to the beach in these.

mama gets a new pair of shoes

i needed a NEW pair of shoes.  i am so often pulled into the $2 shoe phenomenon.  there is a thrift shop called "isabelles" right behind where i work.  i know, dangerous, right?  well, they always sell their shoes for $2.  they are used, but usually in really good condition.  so, i usually just wait till i find a pair in there.  i mean, if i can buy a pair of shoes for $2 and recycle them for me to wear, why pay more, right?  well, i was looking for a pair of shoes to go with a dress i need to wear to a wedding at the end of the month and i didn't find what i was looking for, but i found these.  how perfect.  and what is better is that they are GREEN!  they are made by simple and are eco sneakers.  they have organic cotton uppers, organic cotton linings, a recycled PET pedbed, AND a recycled car tire outsole.  i mean these are darn cute and eco friendly.   i love this.  and the best part of all?  $15 new!  i have got a new spring in my step this spring...

wintry goodness

we were pleasantly surprised by snow sunday morning.  we were thrilled, of course.  although it was very cold, we took a stroll to see the white goodness before it melted in the afternoon.  oh, well.  i guess i am glad i do not have to deal with it all winter long, like some folks.  the weather is pretty mild here, and promises to be around 70 by the weekend.  definitely looking forward to that!  here is the thrifted hat.  so cute.  and a steal at $.30!

new sewing stuff!

so, i have been busy in my sweet little spare time.  which is so rare, i swear it flies by before i realize.  made some gifts for a friend's children.  new baby and 3 year old girl.  the onesie has an applique bird over the heart.  i made a little muslin bag for it to fit nicely into.  even has a little bird on the outside!  i am thinking about selling these at a show in april.  we'll see how many i can get done.  the art smock is from bend the rules sewing by amy karol.  i love her book and am really pleased at how this turned out.  the fabric is so fun and youthful and the pockets are actually from sheets we got while visiting this couple when they lived in alaska.  so, there is a bit of recycling thrown in with sentimentality.  first time to do bias tape, i am embarrassed to admit.  but it was fine.  it will get easier the more i do it!  does anyone dig this?  tell me what you think...

spring is right around the corner

yes, it looks like he is actually looking for it.  this was taken on a wonderful early february day that just so happened to be warm and beautiful.  it really hasn't happened since.  i miss it and found myself at the thrift store tonight looking for another warm coat.  i never bought one this winter.  i bought a maternity one last winter and just felt bad about getting another.  i found a really long sweater though, with a hood!  still had the new tags on it... for $1.98!  good buy.  and lots of other jewels.  got a baby seat for my bicycle for the new spring days coming soon.  i think adrian will love this!  yes.  we are ready!  bring it on...

i heart adrian vega

i am loving my son today.  of course, i love him everyday, but today is st. valentine's day!  thinking of all the reasons i love him - smart, funny, beautiful... and of course, my wonderful husband and i  took a break from traditional art making and created him.  that is hard to compete with once you have made your best work.

tagged!

so, i've been tagged.  i am supposed to go to my 4th folder of photos and my 4th photo in that folder to show off.  of course, it is of my darling adrian at his 6 month pictures i took in the front yard.  i have been meaning to take 1 year photos and he has carried a mark on his face of one sort or another.  so, i have not photographed him in this way - black and white portrait style yet.  this was the perfect weekend, tho.  as the weather turned unusually warm and sunny.  a perfect 70 degrees.  we had a yard sale and a picnic this weekend.  adrian started to eat a stick on the ground and i tried to pull the stick away, but only succeeded in scratching his face with my fingernail.  so, alas, it will be another week before i can get those sweet milestone shots.

i am tagging new people to carry on the game of tag...

wild bird

he has been walking around the house with the bird whistle in his mouth like it is a pipe dangling out one corner of his lips.  what a crazy look for him.  but he is happy and learning how to walk.  and all is right with the world.

blue phrog art gallery grand opening

so, here we are at the grand opening of the new art gallery in town.  so excited to be a part of it all.  my friends, phil and suzanne have really created a beautiful spot.  wish them well, of course.  and lots of sales... of mine and my husbands work!  this shows patrick sold a piece opening night.  how fortunate!  my big beautiful camera is on display too.

slinky dog

fascination with slinkydog is at all new heights.  i think it does not work the way it is supposed to anymore, but that has not stopped adrian.  he hearts slinkydog.
