hallow's eve

adrian went trick or treating for the first time this year!  he went as an ever appropriate monkey-as he is most definitely a curious george and also happens to love bananas.  took pics with iphone.  my husband, patrick, carved the skull.  i carved the penguin in an eric carle style for adrian.  we only went to a few houses before we dropped our little monkey off at noni's and papa's for the night.  patrick and i went on a much needed date to the movies to see "where the wild things are".  sorry, could not figure out the iphone pics yet.  post later.

after my grandmother died, my mother, aunt, adrian and i headed down to the beach house for some time of rest and reflection.  it was so nice to spend the time together and remember my beautiful grandma billie.  my mom and her sister had such a great time with adrian.  it's amazing what only a couple of days can do...

library visit

i took adrian to the library for the first time the other day.  he was so excited to see so many books.  he absolutely loves books.  they had paper on the tables so he could draw on them and tiny chairs for him to sit and read in.  lots of cute ikea furniture to play on.  i rented the velveteen rabbit dvd for home.  it is not a movie, rather stills from the book and someone reading it.  oh, how my mother loved to read me that book when we were kids.  there were so many books i look forward to reading to him... james and the giant peach and the narnia books.  but some new ones that are so colorful and intelligently written, like a poetry book about harriet tubman that was just so beautifully illustrated by jacob lawrence.  oh, it is so exciting the world of books just waiting for him to discover!

adrian was being silly with the blanket today.  i got a series of shots.  he is just so darn photogenic.  also, completely wired tonight from homemade icecream and cream cheese cake.  finally, the sugar crash.  yay!

stroller ride

just got back from a walk with adrian.  i have spent the day at home with Patrick and Adrian and have enjoyed it!  went to the creek this morning, Eclipse coffeeshop for breakfast on the porch, Adrian took a nap while Patrick and I caught up on a few episodes of our fav show, ate lunch, went swimming in our pool, and then Adrian and I took a walk while Patrick slept.  what a long day, but so much fun with my family.

creek play

a quick play in the creek today.  wind picked up and i thought it might storm, but no dice.  he's definitely a water baby.  went under a few seconds and papa had to pull him out.  he didn't cough or cry.  such a big boy he is turning out to be.  his hair is getting a little curl in the back.  so cute.  new word for the day - boobie,  as in mine.

adrian vega - aka blue eyes

yes, we got our son's name from two towns in texas that are nearby to each other.  on the sign, i read them aloud together.  it sounded nice.  that was years ago, on one of our cross country road trips we used to take.  we liked it so much, we just knew our firstborn would have that name.  that's really the story.  no major meaning.  there will be a whole generation of kids that have unusual/non-traditional names in his generation.  i am glad for that.  i know trends come in waves.  maybe eventually we get back to betty sue and agatha.  actually, agatha sounds pretty cool.  if i have a girl, in the future, i'm thinking moxie anne or stella blue.  you can never be sure.

sweet found bird.  i think it must have flown into our garage door.  it is a beautiful unripe banana yellow/green.  not really sure what kind.  my mother has a bird book.  maybe i'll look it up.

beach babe

the gulf coast was incredible this past week.  spending time with my family was so sweet.  i am such a beach lover.  i love the sun and water and wind.  it's so fresh and clear and glittery.  it was adrian's first time to see the beach/ocean.  he was mesmerized.  through the eyes of a babe!
